About

ABOUT THE NCoEGPS

The National Centre of Excellence in Green Ports and Shipping (NCoEGPS) has been developed in November 2022 to provide policy and regulatory support to the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), for developing regulatory framework and alternate technology adoption road map for green shipping to foster carbon neutrality and circular economy in the shipping sector in India.

The NCoEGPS, led by TERI and serving as a knowledge hub, will operate out of its research facility at TERI’s Gurugram Campus (Gwal Pahari). A core research team from TERI will be guided by both external and internal steering committees

The NCoEGPS is going to serve as a ‘single-point contact’ for the MoPSW in matters relating to green ports, green shipping, and green vessels and will be pivotal in evolving solutions in terms of policy, research, and technology that will enable the greening of the sector.

The work under NCoEGPS will also include development of infrastructure supporting research and capacity-building activities by the Ministry.
